Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha (HSKS), through its Hashimukh Craft Corner, participated in the World Environment Day & Nature Conservation Day 2026 convention held on 8–9 June 2026, organized by BRAC C3ER (Centre for Climate Action and Environment Research).
The event brought together organizations, practitioners, community actors, and environmental advocates to promote greater awareness of environmental conservation and encourage practical action for a more sustainable future. Hashimukh participated with a dedicated stall showcasing a range of eco-friendly and handmade products created by children and young people through the Hashimukh Craft Corner.
The displayed products included creative items made from reusable and recycled materials, demonstrating how materials that might otherwise be discarded can be transformed into useful and attractive products. The stall also provided an opportunity for visitors to learn more about Hashimukh’s approach to connecting environmental awareness with creativity, skills development, and community engagement.
For Hashimukh, environmental action is not limited to a single day or campaign. Through its Eco-Craft initiative, the organization works to nurture a culture of reuse, creativity, environmental responsibility, and green livelihood opportunities among children and young people. By introducing practical skills alongside environmental awareness, the initiative seeks to help young people see sustainability not simply as an idea, but as part of everyday life.
The participation also highlighted an important principle behind Hashimukh’s community-based work: environmental responsibility can begin with small, practical choices. Giving a second life to a discarded bottle, choosing a reusable alternative instead of a single-use plastic item, or supporting a handmade product can each contribute to reducing waste and encouraging more sustainable consumption.
The World Environment Day & Nature Conservation Day 2026 convention therefore provided Hashimukh Craft Corner with more than an opportunity to display its products. It created a space to connect with others working on environmental action, share community-level experiences, and demonstrate how the creativity of children and youth can contribute to a greener future.
