Welcome To Hashimukh

Hashimukh has positively impacted the lives of over 300,000 individuals through integrated, community-driven interventions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—notably SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Currently, Hashimukh provides free, inclusive education to 400 students from nursery to grade twelve from urban slum communities. To date, 1,700 students have successfully completed primary education, 450 have completed secondary education, 66 students have passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), and 36 students have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with sustained academic and psychosocial support from Hashimukh.
Through its Healthy Meals Program, Hashimukh delivers nutritious meals to 200 slum-based students five days a week, contributing to improved attendance, learning outcomes, and child nutrition. Since inception, the program has served over 750,000 meals, directly advancing child well-being and food security.
The Health and Hygiene Program has reached more than 30,000 adolescent girls by ensuring access to free sanitary napkins and menstrual health education. Additionally, 200 girls receive sanitary pads on a monthly basis, while annual health camps have provided free medical check-ups and essential medicines to over 12,000 individuals, with a strong focus on adolescent girls and women’s health.
Hashimukh’s IT and Digital Skills Training Program has equipped 1,000 youth with market-relevant digital competencies, contributing to youth employability and economic resilience. In 2024 alone, 18 graduates secured IT-based employment, supporting pathways to decent work.
Complementing this, eco-friendly craft training has benefited 600 slum-based students, promoting environmental stewardship, climate awareness, and sustainable livelihoods in alignment with SDG 12.
In response to multiple humanitarian crises; including the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyclone Remal, and severe flooding in southeastern Bangladesh, Hashimukh has provided emergency relief and recovery support to over 70,000 people, reaffirming its commitment to rapid, localized humanitarian response.
Furthermore, in Dacope, one of Bangladesh’s most climate-vulnerable islands, Hashimukh leads menstrual health awareness and livelihood initiatives, training vulnerable women to produce reusable sanitary pads. This initiative benefits approximately 300 women each month, enhancing dignity, health, and income opportunities. In parallel, Hashimukh delivers digital literacy and financial management training to climate-migrated women living in urban slums, strengthening resilience, economic inclusion, and long-term adaptation to climate-induced displacement.

Where We Focus

EDUCATION PROGRAM

Education is a human right, a powerful driver of development, and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. It delivers large, consistent returns in terms of income, and is the most important factor to ensure equality of opportunities.

URBAN HEALTH DEVELOPMENT (HEALTH & HYGIENE)

According to a survey by the Institute of Health Economics, the University of Dhaka, two-thirds of slum households reported suffering from the disease for up to 15 days in the three-month survey period. One-fifth of these households even reported being ill for 31 days or more.

HEALTHY MEAL

Malnutrition of children is a serious problem in the slums of Dhaka. Children living in slums are suffering from malnutrition because the total percentage of nutrient fulfillment per day is lower than the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), set by the relevant national and international bodies including ICDDR’B, Bangladesh, National Nutrition Council (NNC), Bangladesh, WHO and FAO for children.

IT TRAINING (BASIC & ADVANCED LEVEL)

Education Plus is a program based on the ideology that supports functional and basic ICT literacy for all children and it is in line with the “Digital Bangladesh'' and “Vision 2021” initiatives of the Government. The program is centered on promoting the basic ICT skills of underprivileged school-going children that can help them thrive professionally by capaciting them with appropriate ICT skill sets.

ART & CRAFT TRAINING

As we are passionate about the physical well-being of our students, we provide them with a balanced and healthy meal plan developed with the help of a professional nutritionist, ensuring that they receive healthy meals free of cost five days a week, supporting their healthy growth as well as physical and mental development.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE RELIEF

We work for empowering disadvantaged youth and women by providing a well-rounded education that includes weekly ECA classes, where students can explore their interests through activities such as crafting, cooking, and pottery, promoting entrepreneurship as well as nurturing creative talents and cognitive levels to retain them in an educational system.

Occasional Project

Hashimukh often engages in occasional projects that aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. These projects can vary widely, from distributing winter clothes to help vulnerable individuals stay warm during the cold months to providing food and new clothing to families in celebration of Eid. These initiatives reflect the organization's commitment to fostering community well-being, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that marginalized individuals and families can participate in the joy and warmth of such occasions.

Observance of National and Cultural days

Hashimukh's endeavor is rooted in the solemn observance of significant national and cultural events, aiming to instill in our students a profound appreciation for their foundational values. This initiative covers the commemoration of Independence Day, Victory Day, and Mother Language Day, serving to enrich their understanding of our nation's core principles while paying tribute to our esteemed martyrs and freedom fighters.

Number of new enrollment

The number of new enrollments consistently kept rising over the years until 2021 when the number plunged due to the pandemic. The number then escalated in 2022 when the government permitted it to resume offline classes. In early 2023, Hashimukh School enrolled 60 new students, bringing the total student count to 346. As the school's capacity reaches its limit of 370 students. We reached 371 students total in our main branch. As we reached out of capacity, we have opened our second branch where 60 new students have enrolled. As of now, Hashimukh’s total students reach 400+.
