“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.” – B.K.S. Iyengar. In light of the quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson “The first wealth is health” we are proud to express that Hashimukh has successfully hosted a day-long medical health camp on 17th March 2023, to celebrate National Children’s Day and the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. As Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha is a government-approved, voluntary organization committed to supporting urban underprivileged children and improving their health and well-being, bearing this in mind, it organizes health camps to spread awareness and provide medical assistance to them. The health camp was sponsored by Senora and supported by Well Food. The camp had a segment where free medical treatment and medicines were provided to the students and their families. Awareness-raising on mental health and other essential information such as hygiene promotion, preventative measures of women’s rights violations, eve-teasing, child rights violations, and child marriage were also provided to the beneficiaries. A quiz competition on primary health education was also held among students, adding an interactive element to the event. Senora awarded scholarships to the top three students who scored the highest marks in the quiz competition. The program was led by Nusrat Akter, President and Co-Founder of Hashimukh. Distinguished guests, including Professor Nasreen Ahmed, former Pro-VC of Dhaka University and Principal Advisor of HSKS, Barrister Ahsan Habib Bhuiyan, founder of the “Poriborton Kori” Foundation and “Poriborton Legal,” and Professor Dr. Md. Riazul Haque from the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka, graced the event. Children, adolescents, their parents, and prominent members of society also participated in this event. Professor Nasreen Ahmed, the chief guest, emphasized the importance of children’s active participation and attention to their studies. She said that “Children need to be more active and have to be more attentive in their studies, then they will be able to become true human beings.” Barrister Ahsan Habib Bhuiyan encouraged community members to share their social and personal problems with Hashimukh, assuring them of necessary legal assistance. Nusrat Akter, the President and Co-Founder of Hashimukh said, “The guests present with us are inspiring us from the beginning. They have many expectations from us. By studying well and becoming good human beings, we will be able to fulfill their expectations as well.” We are grateful to Senora and Well Food for being with Hashimukh in organizing this event. The health camp aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, particularly among underprivileged children and their families, and create awareness of various social issues. Hashimukh is committed to contributing its role in changing the lives of underprivileged children, adolescents, and their families in the future.
